Title: Red Hat Linux Admin (with migration experience)

Location: Remote (US)

Duration: Long Term

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Red Hat Linux Administrator with proven experience in system migrations to join our IT Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and migrating Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across all Linux environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems (physical and virtual).
• Plan and execute migration projects, including:
  • OS upgrades (e.g., RHEL 6/7 to RHEL 8/9)
  • Hardware migrations
  • On-premise to cloud transitions (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Cross-platform migrations (e.g., Solaris to RHEL)
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as patching, monitoring, backup & recovery, and performance tuning.
• Automate administrative tasks using Shell scripting, Python, or Ansible.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues in a timely manner.
• Implement and manage system security in accordance with corporate policies and industry best practices (e.g., SELinux, firewalld, auditing).
• Collaborate with application teams, network engineers, and DevOps to support business services.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
• Participate in on-call support rotation and incident response processes.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration.
• Strong experience with RHEL system migrations and upgrades.
• Proficiency in Shell scripting and/or automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, etc.).
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and migration to/from cloud environments.
• Experience with storage systems, file systems (LVM, NFS), and network configurations.
• Solid understanding of security and compliance (CIS hardening, STIGs, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
• Experience working in regulated environments (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.).
