Job Description

Corporate Helicopters conducts a variety of flight missions including charter, tours, flight training and utility projects. The company is dedicated to safety and customer service and the company’s core values are based around customers and team members.

The Chief Pilot applicant must be team orientated, have good communication skills and respond to management requests and deadlines in a timely manner. Flexibility, adaptability, and communication skills are important strengths that the candidate should possess in order to maintain a positive, safe, and enjoyable work environment.

The Chief Pilot must be very familiar with the company’s General Operations Manuel, FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, Helicopter Flight Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Management System.

The Chief Pilot applicant must be very proficient with Microsoft Office, and be able to use and iPad, and be able to take a 14 CFR part 135 check ride in an AStar AS350B2 and/or Bell 206LIII.

Required Experience:

  • FAA certified commercial helicopter/rotorcraft rating
  • FAA certified flight instructor
  • Meet experience requirements under 14 CFR Part 119.71 (c)
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under 14 CFR Parts 135, or;
  • With previous experience as a Chief Pilot, have at least 3 years’ experience as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under 14 CFR Part 135
  • Hold a current first or second-class medical certificate
  • Minimum 3,000 hours TT Helicopter PIC
  • Experience required to take 14 CFR Part 135 check ride in AStar AS350 and /or Bell 206L3
  • Must pass FAA drug test with negative results

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience as a Chief Pilot in an organization conducting 14 CFR Part 135 operations
  • Have FAA airline transport pilot certificate ATP
  • Experience with aviation flight training and standardization
  • No FAA violations or incidents
  • Prior experience as a check airman

Responsibilities:

  • Directs all training activities of flight crewmembers.
  • Promotes safety.
  • Advises the appropriate personnel of the status of flight operations and the training of the flight crewmembers and is responsible for crewmember standardization.
  • Updates information to “SAM”, the company’s custom computer-based operational program, to show pilot currency and qualifications for flight coordinators.
  • Maintains current aircraft checklists.
  • Disseminates information to all crewmembers as pertains to routes, airports, and NOTAMS, navaids and Company policies, including ensuring each pilot has the current digital revision to the GOM installed on their iPad or iPhone.
  • Designates a check pilot to ensure all Company pilots conform to standard procedures as outlined in applicable FAA Regulations and Company policies, and to ensure that all pilots receive proficiency checks as required by the FAA and the Company.
  • Coordinates with the FAA concerning company training and flight operation
  • Obtain necessary Mexico clearances prior to departure for all flights into Mexico
  • Supervises procurement, distribution and posting of all information or memoranda relative to any changes affecting Company policy, route information, navaids, NOTAMS, requisitioning of flying aids, aeronautical charts, etc.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable of the entire contents of the Shier Aviation Corporation General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, and all Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to the Company’s Operations.
  • Other activities as required or requested.
